Description: The name of this plant derives from the pink or red color of the leaves growing closest to the cyathia, or false flowers, at the crown of the stalks. The cyathia form yellow-green clusters. Leaves have 2 to 4 lobes. They are narrow, 1 to 3 inches long.
Special Characteristics
The broken leaves of this plant release a white, latex-like substance that is toxic to some people, causing dermatitis and anaphylaxis. Individuals with latex allergies are easily sensitive to its juice.
